My gal pal, Erin, turned the big 4-0 today so my friends and I are heading downtown this weekend to celebrate her. I can’t wait. Side note – if you are close to turning 40, like myself, do not click on the Best Life “Lesser Known Truths About Turning 40” article published recently on Microsoft News. Christ Almighty. It starts off relatively benign with wrinkles, grey hair and sleepless night woes but then it takes a hard right turn to parts shrinking, all the things getting baggier, leaking issues and hearing loss. Do yourself a favor – put on the blinders and skip on over to the Emmy “Winners & Losers” write up. You will thank me later.
Back to this weekend. Living in Charleston, there is no shortage of fabulous places to dine, drink and be merry. I’m listing out my favorites for a fun gals night out below, focusing on King Street (upper) for this first release.
- Felix (550 King Street, Charleston) – Grab a leather booth, order the Raclette Burger, a glass of champagne and you will swear you are closer in proximity to the Champs-Élysée than Marion Square. Small plates makes this spot perfect for a girl’s night out.
- Indaco (526 King Street) – I am such a sucker for Italian fare and Indaco does not disappoint. Fabulous wine list. Something for everyone. You can not go wrong. My favorites – burrata, blistered shishitos, agnolotti, risotto and any of the pizzas. A girls gotta eat.
- The Belmont (511 King Street) – “A Fine Place to Drink.” It really is. If you are looking for a spot where you can find a creative cocktail and actually talk to (and hear) the people you are out with, then Belmont is the place for you.
- The Cocktail Club (479 King Street) – Nestled above the MacIntosh, this upscale lounge offers the coziest rooftop terrace to relax and enjoy the company of friends.
- Camellias @ Hotel Bennett (404 King Street) – Inspired by a Fabergé jewel box, this gorgeous spot screams “Girls Night Out.” Grab a glass of bubbly, order some sweets and treat yourself.
- A.C.’s Bar & Grill (467 King Street)- When “Up All Night” is your slogan, you know you’ve found the right last stop spot. If you do nothing else while here, order a cheesesteak with a side of loaded fries. You will be thanking me when your little people wake you up at 6 AM the following morning.
