When my girls were little we would spend hours making valentine cards for their preschool classes – ladybugs with their finger prints, pinwheels, hearts made from toilet paper rolls, glitter everywhere. Sweet memories. These days all my kids want to do is exchange candy. While I’m not against the sweet stuff, I do try my best to find other inexpensive valentine options. And if it’s going to be sweet, I try to think a little outside of the box. Below are some unique V-day ideas good for all ages – even the difficult tweens!
I LOVE this idea from Pixel Dust Paperie. Scrunchies are all the rage these days and you can find such cute ones for almost nothing. Like these velvet ones from Amazon. $6.55 for 40 multi colored velvet scrunchies. The printables are available here! TIP – don’t want to waste your printer ink? Send the printable file to Staples. They will print, and cut them, for pretty cheap.
While the scrunchies are definitely “girl only” these reusable, metal straws, will appeal to everyone. Twenty-one pack for $9.99. Snag these funky straws here! Printable tags from Little Legal Designs.
These super simple printables from Lemonade Design Studio are the bomb. Fill a Ziploc bag with something yummy (goldfish, candy, or my favorite bark below) fold the tag over the bag and then staple it shut. Done and done.
If your kids want to give something sweet for love day, make them bake it!Like this crazy easy valentines bark. Just a few simple ingredients, most of which can be ordered from Amazon or purchased in your local grocer. Candy melts // Strawberry Wafers //
My girls love these swirly suckers and they are $10 for 30 here!! Download the sweet V-day card, below by Rainy Lane Designs, and call it a day! Another, unique, candy option are these funky Pop Rocks!
Last but not least, glow sticks. What kid doesn’t love glow sticks? I still love glow sticks. And they are cheap – like cheap, cheap – 100 pieces for $9.99. Grab them here. Love these adorable tags by Kommunicated! You can even customize them with your child’s name.
