When the girls were toddlers, I forced Patrick to give up his man cave and we turned the space into a playroom. Best thing we ever did. I spent weeks ordering and organizing all of their baby/kid stuff and turned it into the perfect play space. But too many birthday and Christmas gifts had overwhelmed the space to the point where you couldn’t even see the floor. Prior to yesterday, I’m pretty sure the USDA would have taped it off and labeled it a biohazard. Thankfully, I had a few awesome products, at my disposal, to organize the clutter and get this room back to clean-ish.
This white shelf organizer from Land of Nod was one of the best pieces of storage furniture I purchased. The cubbies are deep and allow for stacked bins, games and books. Unfortunately, Land of Nod no longer exists but I found one I like even better and it’s currently on sale for $50.99. It comes in a really pretty gray color too.
Bins. You can never have too many. They hold everything from Legos to all of the happy meal toys the kids never want to part with. I can’t tell you how many little figurine style toys my kids own and refuse to throw out. There are tons of cute bins on the market but you need bins you can see thru, otherwise, the kids will have no clue what’s in there.
My favorite bins are from The Container Store. They have three different sizes, and multiple colors, you can choose from. The prices are great too – $7.99 for the larger bin.
You may not even need to purchase new items to begin organizing the playroom. Take a look around your home. This piece used to be in my living room as a book/decorative shelf. We moved it upstairs and now it holds the girl’s games perfectly. TIP – don’t stack or shove games in a space too tightly, just to make them fit. If the kids can’t easily pull them out and put them back, they will end up on your floor.
