It’s no coincidence I’ve spent way more on beauty and anti-aging products this last year. Five days until the big 4-0 but who’s counting? With my impending one way ticket to middle age rapidly approaching, I have become increasingly aware of how necessary it is to invest in quality products. Gone are the years I could slap five year old sunscreen on my face and air dry my hair before a night on the town. These days a 25 minute blow dry is a must and I need about three products on my face prior to even applying a high quality sunscreen.
After investing in the products below, I can honestly say I have seen a dramatic difference in my overall appearance. Some of these skincare products are not cheap and I will have to make a conscience effort to keep myself on a skincare budget but I absolutely believe they are worth every penny!
- Bobbi Brown Weightless Foundation – as someone who has struggled with oily skin and large pores her entire life, I’m constantly on the lookout for a foundation that won’t make the problem worse. This foundation stays put without being cakey! I really like this one.
- Bobbi Brown Primer Plus Mattifer – if you have oily skin a primer is a must. This one is cool and soothing as it goes on and definitely does the trick.
- Revisions Brightening Face Wash – I bought this facewash back in December and I still have more than half of the bottle left. I use this wash in the AM and can totally tell my dark spots have lightened up.
- Obagi Clenziderm Wash, Toner and Treatment – My face broke out like crazy in 2019 and this line saved my skin. It got a little worse before it got better but it was so worth it. I use the obagi was at night!
- Cetaphil Deep Hydration Serum – My oily and aging skin needs moisture but I have to be really careful not to use products that will clog my pores and make me look like a grease pan. I stumbled upon this product at Walgreens and I’m in love. It instantly absorbs into my skin delivering moisture without the grease!
- SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic – I’m not going to lie – this product isn’t cheap. I added it to my cart about fifteen times over twelve months before I finally broke down and ordered it. So what is it? A vitamin C serum that delivers VISIBLE anti-aging benefits. My skin feels more balanced and my fine lines are less noticeable. It’s a holy grail product y’all.
- SkinCeuticals Age Eye Complex – I have tried at least fifty different eye creams over the last ten years and never, EVER, have I found one that actually works – until I tried this one. I was really struggling with crepey undereye skin and this has made such a difference. Another one that will set you back but a little goes a long way!
- l’ange Soleil Hair Dryer – So here’s the thing – I have a ton of hair so I have always spent a little bit more on a hair dryer because the more expensive ones do a better job. About a year back my hairdryer died and I just ordered a semi decent one off of Amazon thinking it would do the trick. Wrong. I have no idea why the nicer ones are better but they are. This one was on sale for under $60 and so far I really like it. My hair is much softer after switching!
- Olaplex No. 5 – Much like my thoughts above, a good conditioner is worth the $ especially if you color your hair. This one adds shine, reduces breakage, smells delicious and a little goes a long way. I’m going to give the shampoo a try next!
- Lumineux Whitening Strips – I have done all of the things to try and keep my teeth white – I’ve done the trays, the in office light procedure ( I can’t remember what this is called), the at home strips – all of them caused me pain because my teeth and gums are so sensitive. Until these strips. I had zero pain using them. They recommend you use for seven days straight and then once a week for maintenance. I could tell a difference but I think I need another seven days to see super white results. I will definitely continue using them!
